Enrollment growth
The department grew from 441 computer science majors in Fall 2013 to nearly 1,500 majors by Fall 2022, with more than 290 minors and 235 graduate students.

During Dr. Taha's tenure, the Department of Computer Science experienced substantial growth in majors, graduate students, faculty, and credit-hour production.
Faculty development
Twenty-six faculty members were hired during his tenure as department head.
New academic programs
Programs included certificates and degrees in data science, cybersecurity and privacy, Double Dawgs pathways, and a non-thesis M.S. option.
Research distinction
The department established the Institute for Cybersecurity and Privacy and achieved national recognition in cybersecurity education.
Creation of the School of Computing
Dr. Taha played a significant role in creating the School of Computing. He co-chaired the Academic Planning Committee and the Scholarly Planning Committee.
Their work contributed to the academic planning document and proposal that led to approval and establishment of the School of Computing at UGA.
